Thank you for this Dinah, I do truly and wholeheartedly agree that the "fake it" approach is something we should steer clear of! :) I am looking forward to the changes to my business ahead, there will be some scary moments but for the most part, it will be a great change :)

Having someone to check in with or to answer too is the ideal way to make changes stick. Today, 7 years ago I chose to stop smoking and I was accountable to several people, I wanted to be successful. Great vlog as always Dinah x

Couldn't agree more, being held accountable is so effective. Why not enlist the help of someone else?

Good point of making clear that being an active member requires more than just attending a meeting. I meet a lot of entrepreneurs who see networking as a good idea and not as a marketingstrategy for their business. I always compare preparing to meet other entrepreneurs at networking to acquisition to make it clear to them that networking is part of their JOB.

And I joined BNI right after my first visit because I was touched by the structured way of networking and by the philosophy of GiversGain.

So many great points Dinah, I used to worry that time out of the office networking was missing work, but with a strategy and a plan I realised that I could be making more business from networking.
I now do what you said, I take the business cards and I follow up the morning after, if it's a morning meeting I usually do it as soon as I get back.
This really does make a difference not only for my business credibility but to the relationship I have with them, they are always surprised at how quickly I follow-up thus showing them I'm credible.

Great points Dinah, thank you

Great idea! I started doing this a few months ago after I had passed on a useful contact a few times - but then leaving myself without that persons card! The thing is though, you have to be organised and make sure you can find the cards again when you need them!

Thanks Naomi,
It is the desire to change that makes all the difference; if we are changing for others we will not succeed. When we truly want to change, we do. It is a choice and often children are less afraid to take that choice.

Hi Dinah,

Love all of these ideas, as a child I hated sending thank you cards now I take real pleasure in them.
I know how much it means to receive one, especially after receiving a bunch of beautiful sunflowers thanks to a referral I gave to an excellent painter. They must not have realised how great it was for my reputation for passing their details onto a client who was incredibly happy.

I think I will have to do the introductions to some great people - now to decide who!
